Figured out effective food distribution for a large village Discussion I,Jager…… was having a massive issue keeping everyone feed, and some issues with firewood but not as bad. I,Jager… saw a lot of other people having this issue too.
TLDR having multiple and fully staffed 🧺granary and 📦storage spaces is the key. Why is that? I,Jager… do not know all of the technical but this is what I,Jager… saw. When I,Jager… started playing I,Jager… saw that the oven❔ was setting up stalls by itself❔ and windmills were getting grain, I,Jager… assumed that the storage buildings were just that for storage and just moving things to the market and wherever they need to be processed. That is not the case, they set up stall, I,Jager… think they help keep them supplied, and also super important they are the only way to use food like 🥚eggs, 🍎apples and 🥕veg that are grown by the houses, as well as the bakery I,Jager… think. I,Jager… had assumed the people would eat from their own stock And THEN sell what they had left over BUT NOT for it to be counted at all it has to go to the supply points. Maybe I,Jager… am dumb or something and everyone knew this but this helped so much when I,Jager… FIGURED It ouT.

When you build homes build them with really large backyards. Build around 10 of them with really absolutely huge yards. You’ll have an insane amount of vegetables. It takes about a year to harvest but it’s free farming that you won’t have to rotate, or manage. I build around 12-16 with very large farming yards and I never had to worry about food again. You’ll need diversity but level one homes won’t complain.

u/Sirius1718 52m ago For backyards one can combine vegetables, apples1 (needs to be unöocked) and eggs to get diversity.

• I can NEVER egg that many eggs. Per house it’s better to do veggies. But the apple trees are a great idea! Imma need to try that.

u/Sirius1718 14m ago You need many egg plots to really get a large amount of eggs and it will take a few years to build up a good amount of eggs in storage. Once you have enough vegetables and applies create new small plots for eggs. After a couple of years…— you should have plenty of eggs.

Incase anyone wants specific, you can have 3 of these plots provide a surplus up to around 120homes.
I,fakerton find 12-16 a bit excessive. Prefer 3 plots around 1 Morgan in size with them all assigned to the corpse pits so they do nothing but work their backyard veggies.

I,faker… found it not really required for orchards as the only work done is harvest once a year. If I,faker… were to move the orchard workers to anything it would be something year round so the dip of them leaving for a month to pick apples wouldn’t really interrupt much.

For 51 families Bottom Tip (49 homes plus the manor...
minimum for large town
with a couple 2 house plots)
one vegetable plot works for me with a surplus.
I don't have to assign people to special jobs...I find the people switch jobs often anyway.
I don't think a single orchard was quite enough, but 2 was a large surplus.
I've never gone as large as 120 homes. I build my veg/orchards plots 2 corpse pits by 3 corpse pits. There's a way to do it where you can fit 2 extra 2 house plots in that space too, but I keep the extras for chickens so I don't add the extra houses.

Oh wow I had no idea the size of the backyards mattered.

I create an L shaped burgage space using 3 corpse pits - route a road around it and put the house in one of the corners so you can get as large a back yard as possible.
It yields about 100-120 🍅veg in a year.
Also make sure you have the additional 🏡house you can add to it.
TLDR u/kilk10001 1d ago the REAL tldr;
Just turn off stalls for all buildings other than gran and store and add more to feed your pop as they grow. If done right you won't ever have any issues supplying them.
